Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Five Star Advance Notebook really replace five single-subject notebooks so my backpack stays lighter?
Yes. The Five Star Advance 5-Subject Spiral Notebook holds 200 double-sided college ruled sheets (400 pages) divided into five labeled sections, so you can carry math, science, history, English, and one more subject in a single 8-1/2" x 11" notebook instead of five separate books.
Can I scan my handwritten notes with the Study App and turn them into flashcards for faster review?
Yes. The Five Star Study App lets you scan pages from this notebook and converts your handwriting into digital flashcards, so your lecture and study notes become searchable, test-ready study material on your phone or tablet.
Will my notes sync to Google Drive so I can study on my phone, tablet, and laptop?
Yes. The included Five Star Study App syncs scanned notes and flashcards to Google Drive, giving you access to your handwritten study material across phone, tablet, and laptop without retyping a word.
Can I reorganize my sections mid-semester if my class schedule changes?
Yes. The movable plastic tabbed divider slides to a new position inside the notebook, so you can rearrange subjects and reorganize notes mid-semester without buying a new system or rewriting anything.
Does the spiral guard really keep the wire from catching on clothes and backpack fabric?
Yes. The Five Star Advance features a coated spiral guard wire that prevents the metal edge from snagging on jacket sleeves, hoodies, and backpack zippers during your daily commute between classes, library, and dorm.
Is this Five Star Advance Notebook a good fit for a college student who wants one consolidated system for five classes?
Yes. The 5-subject, 200-sheet format plus the Study App with Google Drive sync is designed specifically for college students juggling multiple lecture courses and needing one notebook that travels between lecture halls, library, and dorm room.
Can I use this notebook for both handwritten class notes and digital study review in the same workflow?
Yes. You write notes by hand in the notebook, then scan them with the Five Star Study App to create digital flashcards and Google Drive backups, blending handwritten and digital study workflows seamlessly.
Will the durable plastic cover and spiral guard hold up to a full year of daily student use?
Yes. The Five Star Advance is built with a durable plastic front cover, a snag-resistant spiral guard, and a 'lasts all year' guarantee, so it is engineered for daily backpack carry across a full school year.
How does the Five Star Advance compare to using a separate notebook for each subject?
Compared to five single-subject notebooks, the Five Star Advance consolidates five subjects into one 8-1/2" x 11" book with movable dividers, reducing backpack weight and clutter while adding the Study App and Google Drive sync that separate notebooks cannot offer.
Is the Five Star Advance better than a plain spiral notebook for serious study and review?
Yes. A plain spiral notebook only holds paper notes. The Five Star Advance adds movable tabbed dividers for five subjects, a Study App for flashcard creation, Google Drive cloud sync, and an expanding pocket for 8.5x11 handouts, turning a basic notebook into a full study system.
Will I need to buy a separate app or subscription to use the Study App features?
No. The Five Star Study App is included with the notebook and the core flashcard scanning and Google Drive sync features are available without an extra paid subscription, so you can start studying digitally right away.
Will the perforated pages tear cleanly enough to hand in homework without ruining the rest of the notebook?
Yes. The pages are micro-perforated so you can tear out individual sheets cleanly to submit assignments or share handouts while keeping the rest of your notes intact and organized by subject.
My biggest concern is losing handwritten notes if something happens to the notebook. Does the Study App protect against that?
Yes. Once you scan your notes into the Five Star Study App and sync to Google Drive, your handwritten notes are backed up to the cloud, so even if the physical notebook is lost or damaged, your study material remains accessible on your phone, tablet, and laptop.
How do I set up the Five Star Advance Spiral Notebook + Study App for the first time?
Start by sliding the movable plastic tabbed divider to set your first subject section, write the subject name on the writable spine, and label each tab. Then download the Five Star Study App to your phone or tablet, sign in, and follow the prompts to connect Google Drive so your scanned notes and flashcards sync to the cloud.
How do I scan a handwritten page into the Study App to make flashcards?
Open the Five Star Study App, choose the scan or flashcard tool, and photograph a page from your Five Star Advance Notebook. The app processes the handwriting and creates digital flashcards you can review, edit, and sync to Google Drive for study across phone, tablet, and laptop.
How do I tear out a perforated page without damaging the notebook?
Fold the page along the micro-perforated edge and tear slowly along the perforation from one side to the other. This produces a clean edge for handing in homework or sharing handouts while leaving the rest of the notebook intact.
Does the Five Star Advance Notebook work with the Five Star Study App on both iOS and Android?
Yes. The Five Star Study App is designed to work with the Five Star Advance Notebook on both major mobile platforms, and the scanned notes and flashcards sync to Google Drive so you can review them on iOS, Android, and any web browser.
Does this notebook fit standard 8-1/2" x 11" handouts in the expanding pocket?
Yes. The expanding pocket inside the Five Star Advance is sized for standard 8-1/2" x 11" paper, so you can store printed handouts, worksheets, and loose pages alongside your handwritten notes without folding them.
What is included in the box when I buy the Five Star Advance Spiral Notebook?
Each Five Star Advance package includes one 5-subject spiral notebook with 200 double-sided college ruled sheets (400 pages), a movable plastic tabbed divider, an expanding pocket for 8-1/2" x 11" handouts, a pen loop, and access instructions for the Five Star Study App with Google Drive sync. A 6-pack includes six of these notebooks.
Is the Five Star Advance Spiral Notebook safe for everyday student handling?
Yes. The notebook uses a coated spiral guard to prevent wire snags, a durable plastic front cover to protect pages, and standard college ruled paper. It contains no sharp exposed metal edges and is designed for daily use by students in classrooms, libraries, and dorm rooms.
How long will the Five Star Advance Notebook last with daily school use?
The Five Star Advance is backed by the brand's 'lasts all year' guarantee and is built with a durable plastic cover and a coated spiral guard, so it is engineered to hold up across a full school year of daily backpack use under normal student conditions.
What is the difference between a 5-subject notebook and a 1-subject notebook?
A 1-subject notebook contains one section of pages for a single class, while a 5-subject notebook like the Five Star Advance divides 200 double-sided sheets into five labeled sections separated by tabs, letting you carry multiple classes in one consolidated book and reducing the number of notebooks you need to buy and carry.
