Frequently Asked Questions
Is this treat safe to feed in a home with young children around?
Yes. The recipe contains only chicken, salt, and rosemary extract, with no harmful chemicals, rawhide, or choking-risk ingredients, making it a safer choice for family households.
Can my children hand these treats to the dog during training?
Yes. Because the strips break easily into small, controlled pieces, children can safely hand-feed them under adult supervision, which helps teach responsibility.
Does the jerky contain any rawhide that could harm my puppy?
No. It is a non-rawhide formula, so there is no risk of the blockages or choking hazards associated with rawhide chews in family homes.
Is the soft pack easy for a teen or kid to open and reseal?
Yes. The flexible 1.5 lb soft pack is lightweight and easy to open, and the resealable top keeps treats fresh between family training sessions.
Is this a good first treat for a new family puppy?
Yes. The simple three-ingredient recipe, soft chewable texture, and easy-break format make it ideal for puppies being introduced to obedience training at home.
Is it safer than rawhide bones for households with children?
Yes. Unlike rawhide, this jerky is fully digestible, grain-free, and free of bone fragments, reducing choking and digestive risks in busy family homes.
How does this compare to mass-market milk bones for family use?
Beloved Pets jerky uses a single-protein, three-ingredient recipe with no fillers, while mass-market biscuits often contain corn, wheat, and artificial additives.
Is it cheaper per treat than grocery store brands?
Yes. The 1.5 lb bulk soft pack offers better per-treat value than most small-box grocery store treats, especially for multi-dog or active training households.
Will the strong chicken smell bother a child-sensitive home?
Dehydrated chicken has a mild, natural aroma. It is noticeable to dogs but generally not overpowering for people in an indoor family environment.
What if my child accidentally drops pieces on the floor?
The jerky is safe to pick up and re-offer, but for hygiene, we recommend discarding dropped pieces. The resealable pack helps reduce waste during messy play sessions.
Is this treat appropriate for a small puppy learning commands from a child?
Yes. The strips break into very small, soft pieces that are perfect for tiny mouths and frequent reward-based training with children.
I'm worried about allergies. Is this safe for sensitive family dogs?
Yes. The grain-free, single-protein formula is well suited to dogs with common food sensitivities, and the duck or sweet potato variants offer easy rotation.
Does the pack contain any sharp edges or hard plastic?
No. The 1.5 lb soft pack is a flexible pouch with no hard components, making it safer to store in playrooms or nurseries.
Can I use this treat to involve my kids in dog training?
Absolutely. The easy-break format and appealing flavor make it simple and fun for children to participate in positive reinforcement training under adult guidance.
Is the salt level safe if my kids overfeed a few pieces?
The salt level is minimal and safe for occasional extra pieces. For daily feeding, we recommend following the portion guidelines based on your dog's size.
Will the treats stain furniture or carpet if a child spills them?
No. Dehydrated chicken jerky is dry and does not leave oily residue, so accidental drops are easy to clean up around kids and pets.
How should I store the jerky after opening?
Reseal the soft pack and store it in a cool, dry place. For extended freshness, you can refrigerate the pack after opening.
How many pieces should I feed per day?
Portion sizes depend on your dog's weight, age, and activity level. As a guideline, treats should make up no more than 10 percent of your dog's daily calories, and the easy-break format makes it simple to adjust.
How do I break the strips into smaller training pieces?
Simply bend the strip along its length or tear across the grain with your fingers. The dehydrated texture snaps cleanly into bite-sized rewards without needing scissors.
Is this safe for all life stages, from puppies to seniors?
Yes. The recipe is labeled for all life stages and is suitable for puppies, adults, and senior dogs when portioned appropriately.
Will this work for small, medium, and large breed dogs?
Yes. The flexible strip format can be broken into pieces sized for small breeds or fed whole to large breeds, making it a versatile choice for multi-dog households.
What is included in the 1.5 lb soft pack?
Each pack contains 1.5 lb of dehydrated chicken jerky strips in the flavor you select. No additional accessories or tools are needed, and the pack is ready to use on arrival.
Is this treat safe for dogs with grain allergies?
Yes. The formula is grain-free, corn-free, and gluten-free, so it is generally safe for dogs with common grain sensitivities, though you should always check the full ingredient list for your dog's specific needs.
Does this product contain any artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives?
No. The only ingredients are chicken, salt, and rosemary extract. There are no artificial colors, flavors, or chemical preservatives.
What is the difference between chicken jerky and rawhide chews?
Chicken jerky is a fully digestible, protein-rich treat made from real meat, while rawhide is a processed animal hide that can pose choking and digestive risks. Beloved Pets jerky offers a safer, higher-protein alternative for daily use.
